“How do I reserve an appointment?”
Online Consultation appointments are reserved through WCOnline. You can reserve an appointment up to 15 days in advance. You cannot reserve an appointment on the current and/or next day.
“Do I need to attach a file to my Appointment Form?”
That depends. If the piece of writing you wish to discuss during your Online Consultation is longer than 3 pages, then you do need to attach it to your appointment form upon signing up for your appointment. If it is longer than 10 pages, then you should attach the 10 pages you most need help with.
“I have a paper longer than three pages but forgot/didn’t attach it to my appointment form when I reserved my appointment. What should I do?”
Please email the Online Program Coordinator at email@example.com. Please attach to your email the file you wish to be attached to your Appointment Form. And, in your email, please indicate the date and time of your appointment.
“How do I cancel my appointment?”
Open the appointment form for the appointment you wish to cancel, and click the “Cancel this Appointment” tab. You may cancel your appointment yourself as long as you are not attempting to do so within 12 hours of the start-time of your appointment. If you need to cancel an appointment within 12 hours of its start-time, please contact the Online Program Coordinator.
“How do I attend my appointment?”
Online Consultations take place in the Online Consultation Space, located in WCOnline. At the start-time of your appointment, log in to WCOnline, locate your reserved appointment (represented by a Yellow Rectangle) on the Schedule, and click the red “Start or Join Online Consultation” link on your Appointment Form.
“I can’t log in to WCOnline.”
Make sure that you have entered correctly the correct email and password.
“I can’t remember my password.”
Click the link on the log in page labeled “Click here to reset your password,” and enter the email address you used to register with WCOnline.
“I can’t remember the email address I used to register with WCOnline.”

“I can’t open my appointment form” or “I can’t open the Online Consultation Space.”
Clear your browsing history and cookies, restart your computer, and try again. If this doesn’t work, contact the Online Program Coordinator.
“What if I’m late to my appointment?”
If you do not notify the Writing Center that you will be late, your consultant will wait for you in the Online Consultation Space for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes have passed, your Consultant will leave the Space and mark you as a “no-show.” If you know that you will be late to your appointment, please contact the Online Program Coordinator.
“What if I miss my appointment?”
You will be marked as a “no-show.” After missing two appointments (and receiving two “no-show” marks), your account will be deactivated.
“How do I get my account reactivated?”
Contact the Online Program Coordinator.
“Will my Online General Writing Consultation fulfill requirements for projects and/or classes that require me to attend a Writing Consultation?”
Online General Writing Consultations are a general service that students sign up for on a general schedule. If your professor requires you to attend a Writing Consultation, he or she has most likely requested that the Writing Center create a specific schedule on which you can sign up for your required consultation.
If such a schedule exists, you must sign up for a Consultation on that schedule. If such a schedule does not exist, then you may sign up on a general schedule, such as the Online General Writing Consultation Schedule. You will receive, at the end of your Online General Writing Consultation, an email that serves as a proof of your attendance.
